The New Music Spotlight is back with new music from the worlds of country, pop/rock, and alternative R&B.

All of the artists in this post are on our list of current favourites, and we’re excited to see them pushing out new songs and singles to the world. Have a listen and leave a comment telling us which of these five songs will be added to your playlist.

Let’s do this!

Artist: Midland
Hometown: Dripping Springs, Texas
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Brothers Osborne, A Thousand Horses, The Cadillac Three
Song: Burn Out
Notes: Midland describes Burn Out as the sister-song or B-side to their breakout hit, Drinkin’ Problem. The new single has a catchy chorus and is another great showing of the trio’s harmonies and throwback country songwriting.

Artist: Kacey Musgraves
Hometown: Golden, Texas
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, Maren Morris
Song: High Horse
Notes: Kacey Musgraves hasn’t hidden from the pop influences that come through on High Horse. With it’s disco-like beats and pop sensibilities, the song may alienate some of the hardcore country fans that the Follow Your Arrow singer picked up earlier in her career. And that’s too bad for them, because she’s awesome.

Artist: Marian Hill
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Genre: Synth-Pop/Alternative R&B
Related Artists: Broods, Kiiara, Shy Girls
Song: Differently
Notes: One of Philly’s hottest duos, Marian Hill continues to do what they do with smooth vocals on top of great beats that will make you want to move. Turn the volume and bass up a notch when you hit play on Differently.

Artist: Panic! At The Disco
Hometown: Las Vegas, Nevada
Genre: Pop-Rock
Related Artists: Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Paramore
Song: Say Amen (Saturday Night)
Notes: Panic! At The Disco have turned their latest single, Say Amen (Saturday Night) into a cinematic adventure that’s a lot of fun to watch. It’s also great to listen to and takes us back to the band’s biggest days and hits like I Write Sins Not Tragedies.

Artist: Matt and Kim
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York
Genre: Dance-Pop
Related Artists: Passion Pit, Tokyo Police Club, Vampire Weekend
Song: Happy If You’re Happy
Notes: This short (1:50) and very sweet song is a essentially a love song from Matt to Kim. The video is a collection clips of the duo dancing, kissing, and laughing at and with each other, and is one of the cutest things we’ve seen in a long time. While we do wish Happy If You’re Happy was about two minutes longer, it is a fun track that puts a smile on my face.
