Country Thunder Music Festival 2018, Calgary Full Lineup Preview

Festival season is coming, and from August 17 to 19 in Calgary it’s going to be a country music good time when Country Thunder rolls into town.

This week, Country Thunder Alberta released their full lineup, with outstanding headliners, awesome Canadian talent, and some 90s country stars that come together to make up three days of great music in the summer sun*.

*We can’t promise the sun. Sorry.

We know that headliners sell tickets, and with the collection of Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, and Eric Church, it’s pretty clear that Country Thunder knows that too. These three country stars all put on amazing live shows (we’ve been lucky enough to see them all) and will end Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night with sets full of hits and fan favourites.

We’re happy too to see Jess Moskaluke and Madeline Merlo on the bill, adding some country girl power to the lineup. Both of these amazing performers have songs that are perfect for summer, and fans should be ready to sing along to Camouflage, Drive Me Away, Motel Flamingo, and Neon Love!

Country Thunder Alberta, 2018 Day-to-Day Lineup

Friday, August 17

?? Dierks Bentley

If you haven’t seen Dierks Bentley live, you’re missing out. This man puts on a show that is designed to make sure that every single person in the crowd leaves with a smile on their face and a feeling that they’ve gotten more than they paid for. With a new album coming (The Mountain is set for release on June 8, 2018) Dierks’ summer set is sure to include some fresh tracks and memories.

?? The Cadillac Three

These three Nashville boys were made for the stage. Whether they’re in a small club, or at a major festival, they go hard, and the crowd loves it. Be ready for some gritty, grungy country music and a lot of singing along.

?? Chad Brownlee

Chad Brownlee has been one of Canadian country’s biggest stars over the last few years, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. The Somethin’ We Shouldn’t Do singer always has a trick or two up his sleeve when he plays live, and Country Thunder fans should expect something cool when he takes the stage.

?? Drew Gregory

Alberta’s own, Drew Gregory is putting in the work that country fans love to make his career happen. We are 100% certain that the 2015 Alberta Country Music Association Male Artist of the Year is going to give it everything he’s got when he gets up in front of the Country Thunder crowd.

Saturday, August 18

?? Toby Keith

It’s been 25 years since Should Have Been A Cowboy and A Little Less Talk And A Lot More Action were released, and Toby Keith is still going strong. Keith was named Billboard’s Country Artist of the Decade for the 2000s, and with more hits than you can name off the top of your head, and fan favourites to go with them, his set will be packed with singalongs.

?? Dean Brody

Dean Bordy is a hitmaker, and when he plays live he gets everyone in a good-timin’ mood. Whether the entire audience is singing along to Canadian Girls, or he’s bringing down the house, Brody will be directing a set of country music that will put smiles on faces.

?? Restless Heart

They’ve been making since 1984, which should tell you that Restless Heart knows what they’re doing. From When She Cries to The Bluest Eyes In Texas, this is going to be a classic country set that fans can feel nostalgic about.

?? Madeline Merlo

Madeline Merlo embodies the spirit of summer with her country hippie vibe, her Palm Bae status, and songs that’ll make you wanna dance. Her energy is infectious in the best way, and we know that the Calgary crowd is in for a treat when she plays for them.

?? Hunter Brothers

If you are unfamiliar with Hunter Brothers, it’s time to get yourself caught up. These five brothers make some of the sweetest sounds in country music, and when they add in the fun that they love to have when they’re making music, it’s a big win. Be ready.

?? *Rising Star Winner*

Sunday, August 19

?? Eric Church

The Chief is a great choice to headline the final day of Country Thunder Calgary 2018. With hits, fan favourites, a strong stage presence, and an IDGAF attitude, Eric Church has become one of the biggest stars in the genre, and it’s well deserved. In 2015 we wrote a list of five reasons we were excited to see Eric Church at Boots & Hearts, and three years later, we’re still excited for all the same reasons. You should be too.

?? Midland

These three dudes are on fire. Midland is quickly becoming one of the biggest acts in country music. And, with the success of their debut album, On The Rocks, they’re graduating to bigger stages and bigger crowds as they take their music to the fans. This is going to be fun.

?? The Kentucky Headhunters

Go back to 1989 when The Kentucky Headhunters won Top New Vocal Duo or Group at the ACM’s and you can start getting yourself ready for this set. With hits like Dumas Walker and Oh Lonesome Me, these 90s country favourites are going to be great at Country Thunder.

?? Jess Moskaluke

Jess Moskaluke is a Juno winner and three-time CCMA Female Artist of the Year, and every time we see her on stage, she brings the heat! Be ready for Jess and the band to play her biggest hits, and maybe through in a couple of covers or a medley to get everyone singing along too.

?? Bryan White

Bryan White was one of the biggest stars in country music in the 90s with So Much For Pretending, Rebecca Lynn, Someone Else’s Star, I’m Not Supposed To Love You Anymore and Sittin’ On Go all becoming fan favourites and hits. Be ready for a mix of those classics and new music from White when he takes the stage on Sunday.
