Terri Clark Joins Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame & Top 10
Terri Clark is a country music superstar. And 23 years after she debuted at Canadian country radio, the Medicine Hat, Alberta singer-songwriter will be inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.
Clark’s influence and success in the genre are indisputable. Her list of hits and fan favourites is long and spans more than two decades. She has #1 singles in Canada and the United States. She is a three-time Juno winner, a five-time CCMA winner for Female Artist of the Year, and an eight-time winner of the CCMA Fans’ Choice Award.
And if that weren’t enough, Terri Clark is the only Canadian female member of the historic Grand Ole Opry.
This September in Hamilton, Ontario during Canadian Country Music Week, Terri Clark will take her place alongside female artists including Michelle Wright, Anne Murray, Sylvia Tyson, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Rita MacNeil and more. The induction is well deserved, justly earned, and an honour that was honestly only a matter of time given Clark’s wonderous career.
We reached out to some of Canadian country music’s female stars to ask them about Terri Clark’s influence in Canadian country and on their careers. Here’s what they had to say…
“Terri Clark has been a trailblazer for women in music around the globe for as long as I can remember. Growing up I’d watch her videos on CMT, I’d request her songs at radio, and when I decided I wanted to try singing for myself, I’d even sing her songs at weddings. Congratulations on a legendary career, and thank you for everything you’ve contributed to country music, Terri. The best is yet to come.” –Jess Moskaluke
