New Music Spotlight with Maelyn Jarmon, LOSTNIGHTS, Beamer Wigley, and More
New Music from Maelyn Jarmon, LOSTNIGHTS, Beamer Wigley, If Walls Could Talk, and Diggin’ Dirt
In this edition of the New Music Spotlight, we’re featuring music from North America. From Kelowna, BC to Arcata, CA we’ve got some rock, pop, some juicy funk, and a hit of country for you today.
As always, the goal here is to expose you to what’s new, what’s out there but maybe not on your radar, and hopefully help to find you a new favourite band.
Let’s do this!
Artist: Maelyn Jarmon
Hometown: Frisco, Texas now living in NY, NY
Genre: Pop
Related: Adele, Rhianna, Kelly Clarkson
Song: Stay
Notes: As an avid watcher of NBC’s The Voice, I’ve been smitten with Maelyn Jarmon since her first performance. However, this week, she took things to another level. Her cover of Rhianna’s Stay is otherworldly. I can’t watch or listen to this song without tearing up. She knocked this one out of the park. Regardless of whether Maelyn wins the competition or not, this will not be the last we see of this very talented singer.

Artist: LOSTNIGHTS
Hometown: Turin, Italy
Genre: Electric Pop
Related: For Esme, Matt and Kim, Ra Ra Riot
Song: Out of My Mind
Notes: Fabrizio Caglioti and Giorgia Bovolenta are LOSTNIGHTS. A brand new duo who have a lot of previous experience. The song is pretty, and so is the video.

Artist: Beamer Wigley
Hometown: Kelowna, BC
Genre: Country
Related: Petric, Dan Davidson, Kira Isabella
Song: I Knew
Notes: We’ve been listening to Beamer Wigley for about three years, but this young performer has been out in front of audiences for a lot longer than that. At the ripe old age of 16, has many awards and sponsorships under his belt.
“…now 16-years old, the Kelowna-based teen wrote his first song at age seven, took First Place at the Vancouver P.N.E. ‘Star Showdown’ at nine, won the inaugural Penticton Youth Arts Award (25 and Under) at eleven…”
The new single comes with a story based video, and it’s a classic musicians story. Boy busks with little success, boy meets girl and life is good. Beamer has been hanging out in Nashville and writing with some very talented people. I Knew, is a great track that hits home and stays with you. It’s a welcome addition to the New Music Spotlight.

Artist: If Walls Could Talk

Related: Coldplay, Panic! At The Disco, Imagine Dragons
Song: Honest
Notes: If Walls Could Talk is gearing up for the release of their new record, Because It’s Love. Due out June 7th, the album is a 13 track collection epitomizing all of the stages and different kinds of love. Honest is the lead single. It’s cool and catchy, and the video is a fun watch.

Hometown: Arcata, CA
Genre: Funk
Related: The Magic Beans, Pimps of Joy, TOO MANY ZOOZ

Notes: Recorded recently by Jam in the Van, live at Angel City Brewery, in Los Angeles. Milkman is the funkiest thing you’ll hear all day. Together since 2011 Diggin’ Dirt are Zach Alder on vocals, Rory Urquhart on guitar, Drew Weitzel on guitar, John Callahan on bass, Joey Incorvaia on drums, Aaron Gottesman on tenor sax, and Tyler Martin on baritone sax.
