Edmonton’s The Royal Foundry has a new album dropping on Friday, WAKEUP WAKEUP. I’ve had a taste, and I want more.
On September 6th the band dropped their first single and video, the title track, WAKEUP WAKEUP. It’s beautiful, visually, harmonically, and lyrically.
I love their sound and energy.
“We find it a bit hard to stick to one lane in a musical sense. With this new album, we wanted to explore a few different genres and sub-genres, but we also dialled back some of the pop sensibilities from the first record. But we see WAKEUP WAKEUP as a rather natural shift in our sound. Some bands have a formula to rehash the same kind of song and sound with each new record, but we’re more interested in somewhat reinventing ourselves with each release.” – Jared Salte
We were lucky enough to get Bethany and Jared of The Royal Foundry to sit down ahead of the release this Friday to do a round of 5 Quick Questions. They were at Reeperbahn Festival, in Germany! And I’m going to let you know that when asked who we should be paying more attention to, they said Nathan Ball. Make sure you check him out. Watch the video to find out why.
The Royal Foundry is headed across Canada to promote the album, and you can see them at the following locations and dates.
