POESY, Glass Box Confessional EP Review

POESY is here to show herself to the world with her brand new EP, Glass Box Confessional.

Canadian music fans may recognize her from The Launch season 1 and her single, Soldier Of Love, but now there’s more to dig into. Across the four songs on the album, POESY finds and shares her own style and sound. There’s something familiar in her voice as she nails the sounds and vibes on the tracks. It’s a fit with artists she loves like Florence + The Machine and Lana Del Rey while maintaining her own touch that makes her stand out.

Two of the four songs from Glass Box Confessional are previous releases, Strange Little Girl (October 2018) and more recently Body Language (September 2019). Two new tracks Any Human and Never Getting Rid Of Me round it out, giving us the 14 minute EP. With more than 120,000 streams on Spotify, Strange Little Girl has connected with listeners over the last year. And with 32,000+ on Body Language in the month since it dropped, she’s well on the way to seeing the same kind of results.

Note: We ran into POESY not too long ago at T. Thomason’s album release show and we had a chance for a quick chat with her and friend/fellow The Launch artist, Maddie Storvold. When her new EP came up in the conversation she was excited to tell us about it, with a big smile on her face. It got us excited too.

In a Facebook post celebrating the release of Glass Box Confessional, POESY wrote, “This EP is a big piece of me and the title came from both a desire and a fear to be myself. I hope it makes you feel like you can put your own thoughts and feelings on display sometimes and it helps you as much as it’s helped me.”

When listening to the songs, we can hear those thoughts and feelings that she’s sharing. We can see what she means when she says she hopes people will be able to do the same with their own. And we can appreciate the depth the POESY is looking to create with her art.

The Launch put POESY’s name in lights and introduced her to us, but the songs on Glass Box Confessional feel like our true introduction to the artist that she is and wants to be. These are her songs. It’s her story. It’s her life. And now we’re in it with her, and we’re looking forward to more.
