New Music Spotlight with Jonas Brothers, Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion, Featurette, Sons Of Daughters, and Courage My Love

New Music from Jonas Brothers, Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion, Featurette, Sons Of Daughters, and Courage My Love

We’re back with another edition of the New Music Spotlight, and this weekend we’re leaning hard into the worlds of pop and country music!

This week’s artists also have a great Canada/USA balance with three acts from north of the border, three brothers from the States, and one country band that bridges the border.

Check out these new songs from big names and up and coming stars, and leave a comment telling us which of them you’ll be adding to your playlists.

Ready? Let’s Go!

Artist: Jonas Brothers
Hometown: Wyckoff, NJ
Genre: Pop
Related: DNCE, Nick Jonas, Jessie McCartney
Song: What A Man Gotta Do
Notes: With more than 11 million views in it’s first 24 or so hours, What A Man Gotta Do is already on its way to being a hit for Jonas Brothers. It’s a fun pop track that’s going to have a whole lot of people singing and clapping along. And the video, featuring the brothers and their wives parodying Grease, Risky Business, and Say Anything is a whole lot of fun too. Turn this one up and be ready to hear it a bunch.

Artist: Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion
Hometown: The Black Mountains
Genre: Country
Related: River Town Saints, Cold Creek County, James Barker Band
Song: Stillhouse Blues
Notes: The boys are back and with Stillhouse Blues they keep the ringing guitars and shine running vibe they’re best at while being a little lovesick and heartbroken at the same time. We can’t wait to see Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion play this one live, it’s a great fit with their catalogue and if we had to guess, we’d say it’s going to be LOUD when they jump into it.

Artist: Featurette
Hometown: Toronto, ON
Genre: Electronic Pop
Related: Dear Rouge, MONOWHALES, POESY
Song: You Do You
Notes: Electro-pop outfit, Featurette have a brand new album, Dream Riot, with You Do You leading the way for listeners. The track is powerful in its message of believing and being yourself and knowing that’s enough. It’s also a good listen, bringing us to attention and using electronics to bring the song to life in partnership with the lyrics. High fives to Lexie and Jon.

From the YouTube description for the You Do You music video: You Do You is inspired by a fan, turned friend, of the band, named Sarah. Dealing with the growing pains of adolescences can be brutal, and just as Lexie experienced bullying, anxiety and depression in school, so many others do. You Do You is an anthem for the underdog, proudly driving home the message: You are enough, just the way you are.

Artist: Sons Of Daughters
Hometown: Vancouver, BC
Genre: Country
Related: The Reklaws, Wes Mack, Jessica Mitchell
Song: I Picture You
Notes: The duo of Chrystal and Jimmy are at it again with I Picture Of You and we like it. Their voices combine perfectly on the song, and when either of them are taking the lead, it never feels like they’re out of place. If this is the start of a new project we could get in 2020 from Sons Of Daughters, we would be very happy. These two are on the rise, look out for ’em.

Artist: Courage My Love
Hometown: Kitchener/Waterloo, ON
Genre: Pop
Related: Crystalyne, Darling Parade, The Nearly Deads
Song: Girls
Notes: Girls is fun. That’s the short version. It’s a pop track with a great hook (shout out to Girls Just Want To Have Fun) and a video that makes us think of The Craft. It’s a song I want to listen to and smile and dance in my chair and then play again. This is a big 2020 win already for Courage My Love.
