The Darcys Release Oh, What A World in Support of Unison Benevolent Fund

Oh, What A World – The Darcy’s featuring Jocelyn Alice and Tafari Anthony

We got word this week that The Darcys were teaming up with Jocelyn Alice and Tafari Anthony to do two awesome things at the same time. 1) Cover, Kacey Musgraves’ Oh, What A World and 2) Donate all of the streaming royalties to the Unison Benevolent Fund.

If you don’t know Unison Benevolent Fund, here’s the quick version of who they are and what they do via their Facebook About page: “Unison is a non-profit organization that provides counselling, emergency relief, and benefit programs for those in the Canadian music community who face personal or professional challenges due to hardship, illness, unemployment or economic difficulties.” – this organization looks out of the musicians, songwriters, and industry folks whose work we love. And we appreciate the heck out of them.

Right now, Unison is working with their own COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, supporting music people in need, and to see The Darcys, Jocelyn Alice, and Tafari Anthony all come together in support of the organization is wonderful.

The track is a lovely one. The original was released by Musgraves in 2018 on her CMA, ACMA, and Grammy award-winning album Golden Hour and is beloved. The country/pop crossover line-jumper renegade is beloved herself (by us too) so to see Canadian talent come together for a good cause, gives us happiness and pride and just all over good feelings about the whole thing.

With The Darcys electro-pop production, Jocelyn Alice’s outstanding vocals and Tafari Anthony’s vocals adding to the song and completing the package, this version of Oh, What A World deserves to be celebrated not just for its charitable endeavours, but also for being an excellently presented rendition of a great song.

In talking about the song, The Darcys’ Wes Marskell said, “Jocelyn sent over an amazing vocal performance that really took this cover to a special place. Tafari was a wonderful addition to the group and I think his voice really pulled the song together. Our continued ability to record and create music has been very rewarding for Jason and I, and maintaining the creative outlet has gone a long way for us managing this time in isolation.”

We’re glad that it all came together the way it did. And we can’t wait for more music from all three of these artists to find us.
