I Can Do What I Want To, 5 Quick Questions with Command Sisters

Command Sisters have been on our radar for more than a minute now. We’ve seen them around town, we’ve watched them through their social media channels, we included U Forever (Waves ft. Command Sisters) in a New Music Spotlight post back in September 2018, and now the duo has released their debut single, I Can Do What I Want To.

Sarah and Charlotte made the move from Alberta to Ontario, set up shop in Toronto and have been hard at work getting themselves set for their musical next steps. With Sarah’s guitar work layered over Charlotte’s songwriting, I Can Do What I Want To might be the first taste we get of what the sisters’ alternative sounds, but we’re sure it won’t be the last.

To introduce you all to the Command Sisters, we asked them to play a round of 5 Quick Questions with us. Check out the video a little further down in this post.

When it came time for the single to be released to the world, we all found ourselves in the middle of a global pandemic, which scrapped any plans the Command Sisters may have had for shooting a music video. So they went to plan b.

The I Can Do What I Want To music video was self-shot in their apartment, and it gives a fun look at who they are as artists emerging onto the scene.

If you’re in Toronto, where live music is (when there’s live music again) and you think you see Charlotte and/or Sarah, check the colours first. If you see them in red, white, and black – there’s a good chance it’s them. The tri-colour look has become a calling card that fans will be able to picture as they listen to I Can Do What I Want To and more new music as it comes to us.

And when it comes to more music, the official word at umusic.ca (Universal Music Canada) is, “Be on the lookout for more news coming from Command Sisters soon!”

Related: Sarah and Charlotte also joined a long list of Canadian artists to record the Bill Withers classic Lean On Me which has now raised more than $8 million for COVID-19 Relief and the Canadian Red Cross | Lean On Me, Canadian Artists Join Forces to be #StrongerTogether

Now, learn a little more about Charlotte and Sarah Command in their round of 5 Quick Questions. The duo filmed at home and sent it over – so we say thanks for playing along and for their work on the project.

Hit play to find out which albums they can play with no skips, who they want to duet with, who they think you should be listening to – and more.

Enjoy!
