Artist: Dustin Lynch ft. MacKenzie Porter
Hometown: Tullahoma, TN / Medicine Hat, AB
Genre: Country
Related: Kip Moore, Thomas Rhett, Jon Pardi
Song: Thinking ‘Bout You
Notes: Dustin Lynch and MacKenzie Porter come together on Thinking ‘Bout You, and it’s a wonderful fit. The two country singers compliment each other well in the back and forth storytelling narrative. If the song sounds familiar, it’s because you heard the original version on Lynch’s album, Tullahoma. In a press release, he said, “This is one of my favourite songs from Tullahoma, and I’m so excited we get to shine a light on it in a new way with MacKenzie.” he added, “I fell in love with her tone – it was effortless and honest. Her voice is something that can’t be taught, it’s clear she was born with that talent. She was brilliant at bringing her uniqueness to this song, but also keeping it familiar for fans of the original.”

Artist: Said The Whale
Hometown: Vancouver, BC
Genre: Alternative
Related: Hey Rosetta!, Wintersleep, Yukon Blonde
Song: Honey Lungs
Notes: Vancouver alt-rockers, Said The Whale are back with another track that makes us want to move. Honey Lungs is a jam that gives us the rock we want with a hint of pop and it all works together. We’ve seen them live and loved it. And when we get the chance to see them again, we hope they play this one.

Artist: Virginia to Vegas, NOTD
Hometown: Guelph, ON / Sweden
Genre: Pop
Related: Tyler Shaw, Scott Helman, Elijah Woods
Song: Malibu
Notes: Virginia to Vegas teamed up with Swedish dup NOTD to put together Malibu, and I like what they came up with. It fits with everything we already know and love from V2V and makes me want to move. It’s dance-pop. It’s fun. It grooves. Put it on and have a good time!

Artist: Hunter Brothers
Hometown: Shaunavon, SK
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Washboard Union, The Reklaws, Jojo Mason
Song: Been a Minute
Notes: Hunter Brothers just released a song that makes me want to put the top down (on the convertible I don’t have) and sing along while we cruise in the sunshine. Been a Minute is fun, the brothers’ voices sound great together as they always do, and when they get a chance to play this one live, folks are going to have a good time in the crowd. Bring on summer!

Artist: Sykamore
Hometown: Carseland, AB
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Jess Moskaluke, Robyn Ottolini, Andrew Hyatt
Song: Go Easy On Me
Notes: On the morning of release day, Sykamore shared Go Easy On Me and said, “This song is about finding out you’re not the first one to move on from a breakup. I hope you love it as much as I do.” It’s real-life country music stuff with the sounds that Sykamore has started to lean into from a production standpoint. There’s country in there and some pop and it all compliments her vocal as she sings out her feelings. Listen now and get up in your feelings too.
