2021 has been a funny old year. Perhaps we were all expecting too much after the crap bag that was 2020? But it feels like 2021 was an anti-climax. Life slowly started crawling back to ‘normal’ but nothing is the same. We’ve been able to hit the theatres, cinemas, live gigs, and comedy clubs, which has been amazing, but we’re still battling variants, dealing with dodgy politics, fighting for climate change, and spending more than we can afford. It’s easy to feel down in the dumps at the end of a year that has been dumpy.

Woo Hoo for Pop Music

Thank goodness, then, for pop music. Without pop, the world would be even darker than it feels right now. Without pop, there’s be no kitchen discos, no car karaoke, and no late-night dance-offs. Pop music kept us chirpy during lockdowns, and it’s been keeping us sane as we navigate our new worlds. Whether you’re hanging at home and using your best casino bonus Canada to play games like those found here, or driving the school run with a car full of challenging tweens, pop music provides the soundtrack that shakes away the cobwebs from the everyday mundane and bathes the world in a decidedly twinklier light. Love it or hate it, pop music provides the sing-along songs that bring people together, and everyone knows all the words to at least one classic pop tune.

If you want to give yourself an extra treat, take a deep dive into 80s pop for nostalgia overload. Many would argue that it’s in the 80s that you’ll find all the best pop ever written. We’re not sure we agree with that statement, but the 80s did produce some absolute pop bangers. Madonna, a-ha, Stevie Nicks, Prince, Culture Club, Pet Shop Boys, Run DMC, Talking Heads, and The Cure.
