Nelson Sobral Second Arrow Album Art - beautiful black design on white background

Nelson Sobral: Second Arrow

We’ve featured Nelson with an interview + 5 Quick Questions, and a New Music Spotlight. Sobral is back with his album. We’ve already heard some of the songs on this album, and we’re ready for more. The latest single release is the opening track, “Dancing Fool.” The super high-energy track is about letting go of what no longer serves you. It delivers with its enthusiastic chorus, raw swagger, and impeccable guitar playing.

With a hint of country, a touch of blues, a hit of horns, and a hefty dose of Americana, Second Arrow soothes and warms our hearts. Are you feeling a little down? Put on this album. It will lift your spirits.

Second Arrow is a reference to a Buddhist parable, If someone does you harm, that’s the first arrow; but dwelling on it, that’s you causing yourself the next wave of suffering. The ‘second arrow’ is the arrow that you fire upon yourself.” – Nelson Sobral

We’re hoping for a video for “Dancing Fool” soon.

Dan Davidson 6 SONGS TO MIDNIGHT album art

Dan Davidson: 6 Songs To Midnight

6 Songs To Midnight is the follow up release to Dan’s smash single “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You,” featuring Hayley Jensen, which premiered last fall on CMT Australia and debuted at #7 on Australian country radio.

Additionally, the album features fan favourites like Davidson’s collaboration with The Road Hammers “Roll With It,” the heartwarming track “I Do” and the drinking anthem “Role Models.” Fans will be enamoured by the addition of two unreleased songs, a live recording of “Don’t Judge a Beer By The Label,” and with something a little different, and more of what’s to come from Dan, “Blindspot.”

The multi-award-winning artist is keeping busy!

“This record is, in many ways, the ‘period on the sentence’ of an important part of my growth as an artist,” Davidson shares. “I find this record to be a transitional statement as I step towards what feels like a new level in my career as an artist and songwriter. I feel like as a writer I really show what I do best – ‘get drunk and fall in love songs.’ It’s a collection of tunes that I’m really proud of; there are a bunch of songs that I’ve released over the last year or so plus a few new ones some fans won’t have heard yet!” – Dan Davidson

Eamon McGrath - Bells of Bells of Hope Album Art

Eamon McGrath: Bells of Hope

Bells of Hope delivers ten tracks best listened to in sequence. But, if you’re familiar with McGrath, you’ll find that his music is transitioning to a lighter place.

“The album title references not only a conscious effort to realize a more optimistic and positive-sounding album than its predecessors, but also a long-standing tradition where after a cancer patient has finished their treatment they ring a bell in the hospital,” explains McGrath. “This last year not only saw the world come to a halt because of the tragedies of COVID-19, but it came in tandem with what was an already difficult period for myself and many others. This album is a chance for me to ring one of those figurative bells, looking forward with promise. Things can always and will get better, and it’s important to never lose sight of that.” – Eamon McGrath

Eamon kicks off his Bells of Hope Tour tonight at Lee’s Palace. Tickets are still available! Doors are at 8:30. Check out the website for full tour info. Socials and music links are also on Eamon’s website. Links for Bells of Hope here!

You can get a copy of the album from Bandcamp, and remember, if you buy an album from Bandcamp, it’s around the financial equivalent to the artist of you streaming their music every day for three years. So, here’s McGrath’s Bandcamp Link.

NOBRO: LIVE YOUR TRUTH SHRED SOME GNAR

Searing, full tilt, bitchin’ rock and roll is what Live Your Truth Shred Some Gnar delivers. The seven-track EP was produced by Thomas D’Arcy (July Talk, The Sheepdogs, Yukon Blonde) and mixed by two-time Grammy Award-winning engineer Dave Schiffman (Vampire Weekend, Adele). Their job was to harness NOBRO’s raw power with heavy doses of fun and flair. They’ve succeeded. Notable tracks include the first single, “Better Each Day,” “Eat Slay Chardonnay,” and “Not Myself,” the last created with JUNO nominee Terra Lightfoot.

They’ll be on tour with Billy Talent and Rise Against/Anti-Flag starting April 1st. Check out their website for tickets, music links, and more.

Tears For Fears: The Tipping Point

It’s been 17 years since the last Tears For Fears studio album, and today via Concord Records, fans were rewarded with a brand new album, The Tipping Point. This makes me very happy. Now, this wasn’t a big secret, the band has been doing promo work and releasing singles, but today we got to hear all ten tracks.

Are you wondering why after all this time, they’ve come back together? Are you wondering why the band broke up at the height of their success? Me too! Check out their interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 here >>>INTERVIEW<<<<. No spoilers from me.

1. I think longtime fans will love this album
2. It’s in some ways very much like previous albums intermingled and, at the same time, very different.
3. The themes can be understandably very dark
4. Words that come to mind – euphoric melancholy soaring

And this all makes sense.

Do we love Tears For Fears? They’ve sold 30 million albums worldwide, and there have been 216 samples, 295 covers, 37 remixes. I think so.

My favourite, that’s a tricky question. I’m leaning towards “Break The Man.”

Roland Orzabal (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Curt Smith (vocals, bass, keyboards) head out on their US tour starting May 20th in Cincinnati and finish up in Wantagh, NY, on June 25th. Then they head back to the UK and perform on July 1st in Telford, UK. With restrictions lifting, border crossing should be easier. Check out tour dates and ticket info on their website

If you think the album cover is cool, you have to check out the website. It’s next level!
