The Glorious Sons Bring A War On Everything Tour to Toronto

Toronto loves The Glorious Sons.

Well, to be fair, it seems like rock fans, worldwide love The Glorious Sons. Their Young Beauties and Fools album just went Gold, with *two* Platinum singles: Everything Is Alright and S.O.S.!

On a very chilly Thursday night, Toronto fans turned up to see the band’s headlining A War On Everything tour and contently sang along. Before the Kingston band hit the stage, early arrivers were treated to a quick, intense set from hometown band, Black Pistol Fire.

The rock duo from Austin, Texas by way of Toronto, is made up of Kevin McKeown on guitar and vocals, with Eric Owen on drums. The pair were fun and exciting to watch, and they sounded great. The stage was very dark with hits of light, emphasizing the music.

The set ended and while we waited, the venue became fuller and fuller. By the time The Glorious Sons hit the stage, there was a good-sized crowd who were primed and ready to go.

There was very little banter. As a result of that, there was a lot of music. Dressed to the nines, Brett’s sporting shorter, lighter hair and he was wearing shoes. I know!

TGS delivered hard-hitting hits and ballads from A War On Everything, Young Beauties and Fools, Shapeless Art, The Union, and Little Prison City: Live at Rogers K‐Rock Centre. Switching back and forth between the rich warm orange lights for songs from the latest release to cool blues and purples for songs from previous releases, it was magnificent to watch. Add in audience sing-alongs, bitchin’ harmonica playing, and some quieter moments, the performance delivered on all fronts. They look like they’re having the best time and that energy is palpable.

By the end of the evening, the band had delivered 20 songs, which included a 5 song encore. People heading out of the arena were smiling and happy. What more could you ask for?
