Spotify Celebrates 10 Years with Most Streamed Songs & Artists

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their official launch, Spotify has released a selection of lists highlighting the most played artists and songs of the last decade.

The information was published by Spotify on October 10, 2018, and includes an infographic that you can find at the bottom of this post. In total, six Top 10 lists were included in the release, including Most Streamed Songs of Each Year and All Time, Most Streamed Artists, Most Streamed Female Artists, Most Streamed Albums, and First 10 Artists to Reach 1 Billion Streams.

A quick look at the most streamed songs lists reveals the heavy spins for rap and hip-hop on Spotify with Drake, Eminem, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Kanye West among the names included. It’s also noticeable that few women made it onto these lists with only Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Katy Perry present into the non-female only categories.

And while pop isn’t the most listed genres listed, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber both have their names all over these lists with six and five mentions respectively.

However, the most eye-popping statistic from Spotify’s Decade of Discovery post isn’t song specific…

Total Time Streamed On Spotify: 16,858,080 Years

That is amazing!

That equals 1,685,808 years listened per year. Or, 4,618 years per day. Or, 192 years per hour. Or, 3 years per minute of music streaming on Spotify over the last 10 years.

WOW!

Now, check out some more of the Spotify 10th anniversary info and leave a comment telling us which of these songs and artists you’ve been listening to over the last decade!
